• Tools of the Trade Success Grant Application

    Eligible applicants must be enrolled in the Sandburg Automotive Technology or Welding Program to be considered for funding support. For questions regarding the Tools of the Trade Success Grant, contact the Sandburg Foundation at foundation@sandburg.edu or 309.341.5349. 
  • Please read prior to submitting a Tools of the Trade Success Grant application: 

    • Dual credit students are not eligible to apply for the Tools of the Trade Success Grant, as necessary kit items are made available on loan to students through Perkins Grant funds. 
    • Students who have already received a welding kit or automotive toolkit via WIOA or IDHS funds are not eligible. 
    • Students are eligible to receive one Tools of the Trade Automotive Grant and one Tools of the Trade Welding Grant during their enrollment. Students are eligible to receive each grant one time per program of enrollment. 
    • Funds will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. 
    • I also understand that if I withdraw, stop, transfer, are dismissed, or otherwise do not complete the program, I may be required to return all awarded tools and equipment. Returned equipment may be redistributed to future grant recipients or used to support instructional programs at Sandburg. Only upon completion of the Automotive Technology or Welding program will the weld kit, tools or tool cabinet become the student's property.

    I understand that if awarded this grant, I must maintain Good Academic Standing and make Academic Progress as defined by Carl Sandburg College's standards with a minimum cumulative 2.0 grade point average (GPA) and a minimum cumulative 67% completion rate for attempted credits. I also understand that if I withdraw, stop, transfer, are dismissed, or otherwise do not complete the program, I may be required to return all awarded tools and equipment. Returned equipment may be redistributed to future grant recipients or used to support instructional programs at Sandburg. Only upon completion of the Automotive Technology or Welding program will the weld kit, tools or tool cabinet become the student's property.
